Fine Sikin Sword with Damascus Blade, Ache , Sumatra - 12687


This Sikin is one of the many variations of the Klewang, the Indonesian machete like sword. This one is probably Acheen from Sumatra, mid to Late 19th C. with a fine pattern welded (Damascus) blade, straight and single edge, 22 inches long with a 15 inches long fuller just below the spine. The blade is decorated with gold inlay (True inlay) pattern and with inscription in Arabic letters on the spine. The steel bolster is forged in a polygonal shape and inlaid with gold decoration. The hilt is carved of horn in a typical forked pommel. Total length 29 inches. Very good condition. Losses to the gold inlay. Age crack on the grip. No scabbard.
