The people of the Admiralty islands N.E of New Guinea uses Obsidian for their blades. From there come this very rare spear. The obsidian blades, of triangular cross section is about 7 inches long, with the lower part secured to the haft with some sort of clay, painted ocher and engraved in a geometrical pattern in white color. The total length with the bamboo haft is 36 inches (unfortunately slightly shortened). Very good condition.
