We offer here for sale an interesting variant of the Parang sword, probably from Java. It incorporate what looks to be a blade from a European military saber, 31 inches long, fitted with a carved hardwood handle shaped in a styled monster head and with horn collar. There are few similar swords In the classical work by A.G Van Zonneveld Traditional Weapons of the Indonesian Archipelago but none exctly the same. Wood scabbard bound with four rattan bands close to the tip. Very good condition. Minor repairs to the scabbard and age cracks in the handle but it is holding very firm. Low price.
