Panabs, Execution Sword, Moro, Philippines - 12293


The ‘Panabas’ is a long, heavy, two handed jungle knife, used by the Moro’s of the Philippines and supposedly was used also for execution. The blade comes in various shapes, (See also: Robert Cato, Moro Swords fig. 55 ). This one has a massive blade 16 ½ inches long. It up-curving with the edge on the down facing side. The grip is turned hardwood with a brass collar. Total length 33 inches. Very good condition. Small chip on the pommel end of the handle. This item is coming from the John Woodman Higgins Armory Collection . Acquired in 1944.
