Parang Latok Sword, Kalimantan (Borneo) - 12292

The Parang Latok is a rare Sword / Machete from Kalimantan (Borneo). It is characterized by the heavy wedge blade widening toward the tip, with its lower unsharpened part and the hilt abruptly bent upward, allowing two hands grip of the sword. This exemplar is a rather simple one but authentic and functional. 16 inches blade, 10 mm thick near the hilt and mark at its base. Simply carved wood hilt with a braided rattan binding. Total length 21 inches. Very good condition. Good age patina on the blade. This item is coming from the John Woodman Higgins Armory Collection . Acquired in 1946.
