19 C Persian or Ottoman Scissors / Dagger - 12270

We offer for sale a very unusual item and although not really a weapon, it is usually displayed in the weapons section in private collections as well as in museums. It is a pair of scissors originally used to cut papers in the very well developed calligraphy art of the Persian and Ottoman courts. However its blades are shaped like a dagger and can be used as such if needed. The narrow blades are 6 inches long, hollow ground, with acute point and decorated with silver koftgary work. The handles are brass. Total length 9 inches. Very good condition.
