Very Rare 18C. Indian “Blade Shot” Projectile - 12262
This very rare “Blade shot” projectile is Indian, 18C. Supposedly it was shot from cannons acting in a similar way to the European “Chain shot” or “Bar-shot” projectiles fired in naval battles to damage enemy masts. Two steel balls connected with three pivoting strong double edge blades. Balls diameters are 52 and 56 mm. Length (fully extended) 28 inches. Very good plus condition. There are evidence that such projectile were used against British troops in India. It should also be noted that according to some sources such weapons were hand thrown similar to the South American “Bola” and/or to hit enemy horses legs. |
