This spear shaped steel blade is coming from Sudan, late 19 C. It is a ceremonial spear or a battle standard. 8 ½ inches long 6 inches wide blade, entirely covered with etched inscription in Arabic letters. Wood grip bound with leather strips. Original and very rare wood scabbard entirely covered with fine mosaic work of many hundreds of small pieces of bone and hardwood. Total length 13 inches. Very good condition. Minor losses to the Mosaic work.
