18 C. Ottoman Armor Belt with Carnelian Stones - 12035

This belt is Ottoman, late 18 – early 19 C. It was supposedly used to gird mail armor, but could have been used by worriers for other or similar purposes. Heavy leather set on the front side with 40 big oval shaped Carnelian stones in silver setting, and mounted with pierced brass plates and steel nails all around. Length about 36 inches. 3 inches wide. Very good condition to age. Some repairs on the leather. One carnelian stone replaced with a coral stone. Very impressive and rare belt.
