Fine Syrian Heavy Sword with Wootz Persian Trade Blade - 11966
This fine sword is Syrian. Its employ a mid 19 C. Persian trade blade finely fullered and chiseled with a maker mark and inscription in Arabic letters. The heavy straight blade is finely fullered, forged from Wootz (Damascus, Watered) steel. The handle is of classical Syrian shape with horn grips set with brass nails and lead stars and down curving white metal pommel head. Steel cross guard. Finely made and heavy chased silver scabbard. Blade length 34 inches. Total 40 inches. Very good condition. Very shallow pitted spots on the blade tip. |
