Very Good and Early Tibetan Long Sword - 11965


This sword is coming from Tibet, probably Eastern Tibet and believed to be an early type, may be 18 C. Single edge blade 22 inches long laminated and folded steel in the pattern known as “hair pin”. Cup shaped steel cross guard. Handle covered with ray skin. Steel pommel with inlaid layers of copper and brass, with two prongs protruding from the pommel face. Scabbard covered with leather with white metal locket and chape. Total length 29 inches. Very good condition. Blackened spots on the blade. Losses to the pommel inlaid layers. Losses to the ray skin cover of the grip.
