Fine Persian Khangar Dagger with Wootz Blade - 11915


This Khanjar dagger is Persian, mid 19C. mid Qajar period. Classical curved and double edge blade with central rib and reinforced edges. The blade is forged from fine wootz (Damascus, watered) steel of high contrast pattern. Walrus ivory. Fabric covered scabbard with very fine pierced silver locket and chape. Blade 9 inches total 15 ½ inches. Very good condition. Minor blackened spots on the blade. The scabbard and silver fittings are most probably of Indian origin, may be Hyderabad.
