This Khanjar / Jambiya is Persian, late Qajar period, mid 19C. The curved 12 inches blade with a central rib and chiseled top is forged from wootz (Damascus, watered) steel of rather low contrast pattern. Massive bone handle beautifully carved in a typical period design: A king and queen with slaves or workers. Wood scabbard covered with black leather and mounted with white metal mounts. Total length 18 inches. Very good condition. Very impressive dagger.
