Good Quality 18 C. Khanda Sword India - 6175

This is a beautiful late 18 or early 19 C. Khanda Sword and one of quality. The straight heavy blade is 27 inches long, double edge at its lower part and a serrated back at the upper and with a spatula shaped tip. The blade is marked with what looks as an armory cataloging number. The handle is steel, beautifully inlaid with silver koftgari decoration. The scabbard is wood, covered with green velvet. There is a number painted on the scabbard and an old label, mostly illegible, indicating that this sword was taken by the police in 1921. From where?? Why?? We do not know all this. Very good condition. The scabbard seams are open and the fabric partially worn.
