From southern Kenya, where the Massai people reside comes this spear. It is also known as Lion Spear supposedly used by young warriors to hunt a lion as a proof for their courage and manhood. True story?? We do not know. This one is early to mid 20 C. Heavy very long blade, 31 inches long with a central rib and 6 inches socket. 32 inches long steel tail. Short wood handle in the center. Total length 81 inches. Very good condition. This lot was nickel plated, probably by its last owner. A very attractive and decorative item.
