This is a hide shield from India. It is made from Buffalo (?) hide, 16 inches in diameter and 3 inches in height with four brass bosses. It is entirely hand painted in gold, brown green and yellow colors in a very delicate design, with four medallions with hunting scenes. The inner side is painted black. Very good condition, with few age cracks to the paint and minor hide age distortions. The original inner cushion and handles are missing.
