Rare Pichangeti Knife / Dagger, Coorg, India - 11688
The Pichangeti is one of the rarest knives of the Indian arsenal. It is associated with the Coorg people inhabiting the South Western shores of India. It has a short heavy single edge blade, 6 inches long, brass bolsters and finely engraved silver handle and gold pommel cap. The wood scabbard is also covered with silver mounts, partially gilded bands and the up-curving scabbard tip is of a very clear Arabic influence. Total length 11 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Old brass brazing on the blade base. |
