This type of knife / dagger is called “PIHA KAHETTA”, and it is the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). This very good example has an 8 inches blade inlaid with silver decoration. Heavy highly decorative silver bolsters. The grip is carved from black horn . Original scabbard with silver mount and a compartment for a metal stylus (missing). Total length is 14 inches. Very good condition. Good age patina on the blade. Small damage on the top of the scabbard.
