Fine Early Moro Kris Sword - 11609
This Moro Kris sword is probably an early one, mid – late 19 C. The fullered blade is very interestingly forge welded from a laminated top and high carbon steel lower part (In a similar way to the scarf welding on Indian swords). Silver reinforcing band secure the blade to the handle. Grip bound with braided threads and rattan bands. Cockatoo style ivory pommel. Original wood scabbard bound with rattan bands (partially restored). Blade 21 inches, total 28 ½ inches. Very good condition. Light damage to the thread binding on the grip. Early repair on the pommel. The style and dimensions of the blade suggest the early age. |
