Ceremonial Battle Mace from Bukhara - Uzbekistan - 11575


Up for sale is this quite scarce mace, probably early 19 C. from Bukhara, Uzbekistan. This type of maces served as a symbol of rank and a reminder of power a of its owner as. The head is oval shaped, 3 ½ inches tall and 2 inch in diameter. It is carved from a red brown stone, most probably Porphyry marble or a similar one. The haft is wood 18 inches long, covered with green fabric at its center and mounted with long chased silver mounts. Total length 21 inches. Very good condition. The green fabric is lightly worn and is held in place by a later added iron wire bound on the haft. Few dents to the silver parts. A rare authentic item.
