This very fine dagger is from India, early 18 C. or earlier, most probably from Bundi in Rajasthan. Finely forged blade, pattern welded (Damascus) steel with thickened tip . An elephant head is finely chiseled on the base of the blade. Steel handle decorated with gold inlay work. Wood scabbard with finely pierced silver fittings. Blade length 9 ½ inches. Total 15. Very good condition. Very minor pitted spots on the hilt. A very fine and rare dagger.
