The Genoui, is a rare variant of the classical Moroccan ‘Koumaya’ curved dagger with straight blade. The name literally means from Genoa, probably to indicate its ancient source. The straight 17 inches fullered blade is cut from an old sword and fitted with a massive bone handle. The scabbard is wood mounted with finely engraved and lightly painted brass mounts. Total length 23 inches. Very good condition. Very good age patina on the bone handle and the brass mounts. Blackened areas and pitted spots on the blade.
