Very Good Wootz Sword from the Bikaner Armory. - 11504

This long fighting sword is early – mid 19 C., most probably coming from the Bikaner armory, Rajasthan, India. The blade is straight, fullered, 35 ½ inches long with 10 inches false edge, forged from wootz (Damascus, watered) steel. It is marked on the spine with punched dot markings. Large size steel handle with big disk pommel. Newly made scabbard with velvet cover. Total length 42inches. Very good condition. Several forging flaws. The punched dot marking as well as the clean lines and size of the handle suggests the attribution to the Bikaner armory.
