Fine MANDAU, Sword of the Dyak Head Hunters, Borneo - 11406


This fine MANDAU (sometimes also called “Parang Ihlang”) is a early 20 C with a 17 inches blade with curved cross section, signed with a maker mark. The handle is “L” shaped, finely carved from bone with braided rattan strips. Finely carved wood scabbard bound with rattan strips. A back compartment made of wood bark for additional knife. Remains of a braided rattan belt. Total length 24 inch. Very good condition.
