Massive, Armor Piercing Wootz Kattar, Rajasthan - 6146

We offer here for sale one of the best Kattars in our inventory. It is an 18 Century Armor piercing Kattar push dagger from Rajasthan, India, probably from the Armory of the Maharaja of Bikaner which was sold in the early 70’s. There are not many mail shirts that will stand the massive blade driven through its rings. It is diamond shaped thicker than 5/8 inches (more than16 mm) at its thickest point. The blade is 9 1/2 inches long, forged from Indian wootz (crystalline Damascus), simply chiseled in its central rib. So are the side bars and the two cross bars. All in clean lines, no flamboyant decorations, designed and produced to do the job. A typical approach to the Rajasthani arsenal of edged weapons. A piece of art in steel.. Both side bars are marked with the armory marking as well as the front bar connecting the blade. Excellent condition. A very impressive piece, and a treasured addition to your collection.
