Very Fine Turkish Khanjar / Jambiya Dagger - 11336
This very fine dagger is a Khanjar (sometimes also referred to a Jambiya), East Turkey, mid to late 19 C. The general shape reminds the Khanjars carried by Kurdish People. Very fine wootz blade of good high contrast pattern, with gold koftgari decoration at the base of the blade. Whole silver handle. Scabbard covered with tooled leather, spiral stitching and mounted with finely chased locket and chape. Blade 9 ½ inches. Total length 16 inches. Very good condition. The silver handle is restored. Minor blackened spots at the tip of the blade. |
