We are offering here for sale a very rare sword from the Maluku (Moluccas) islands. It is from the Klewang family but of a rare form. The blade is heavy, 23 inches long with a clipped at it widest point (3 inches) near the tip. The blade is forged from laminated steel. The handle is hardwood and the guard is horn bound to the handle with rattan fibers. The grip is bound with braided rattan. Total length 31 inches. Very good condition. Minor darkened spots on the blade and a very few of the rattan binding strips are torn. A very similar sword is shown in: A.G.
