Up for sale is this fine Shamshir sword, Indian, probably North India, late 18 C. The massive blade is 32 inches long, 1 ¼ inches wide, forged from very good Wootz (Damascus, Watered ) steel of dark color and good contrast. The handle is whole silver, very nicely enameled with green and blue floral pattern. Total length 37 inches. Very good condition. Darkened spots and minor shallow pitted areas on the blade. Some losses to the enamel. Very impressive sword.
