Very Fine Sewar Knife Sumatra Indonesia - 11274
This mid 19 C. Sewar dagger / knife is coming from central Sumatra. The blade is 10 inches long. The handle as well as the scabbard locket are beautifully carved from Hippo tusk which is characterized by two sectors separated by a doted line.The scabbard is wood with chased silver mounts and bound with silver bands. The number on the locket is a catalog number of the item from its previous location at the Army museum, Oxford, U.K. Total length in scabbard 13 ½ inches. Very good condition. The cracks on the handle are age development of the separation lines but the handle holds very solid. A fine piece of high quality. |
