This very fine heavy dagger is of top workmanship. Triangular shaped blade 18 inches long, 2 inches wide with a diamond cross section, nicely etched and inlaid with gold and silver at the base. Elephant ivory grips with flared eared pommel, finely engraved in a scrimshaw style. finely chased blackened copper scabbard. Total length 23 ½ inches. Very good plus condition. The origin of this dagger is a bit mysterious, showing Russian, Turkish and Caucasian influence. We think it may be an hunting dagger of Russian origin.
