Fine 19 C. Jambiya Dagger from Oman, Rhino Horn Hilt - 11203


A fine, late 19 C Arab Jambiya dagger. This style of daggers is called Omani, as its originate from Oman. However it is spread as well as other Jambiya’s styles all over the Arabian Peninsula. It has an 8 inches curved and dual edge blade with a pronounced central rib, forged from good steel. The hilt is the classical “I” shaped cut from a massive solid piece of Rhino horn with a front panel composed of hundreds of silver nails and chased silver collar. The scabbard is “L” shaped covered with leather and a silver foil. The belt attachment is made of complicate arrangements of seven silver rings and twisted silver wire. This dagger comes with its original part of heavy silver belt and buckle. All scabbard and hilt fittings are silver chased in a typical design. Very good condition. The horn handle was cracked and re glued.
