A sword of the Fang people residing in the borders area of Gabon and Cameroon. Weapons of the Fang are somewhat different and they are much sought after. This one is old, probably mid to late 19th Century, 13 inches double edge blade with a flat central rib and lightly engraved at its upper part. Hardwood, cross-shaped hilt with copper wire binding. Original scabbard (rare) with reptile skin and big hanging copper loop at the top . Total length 21inches. Very good condition. Minor blackened spots on the blade. Age crack on the hilt wood. Some losses to the copper binding and to the leather.
