This unusual short sword is Chinese, probably South China, late 19 C. The short massive blade is 16 ½ inches long, 11 mm thick at the base of the spine and deeply fullered on both sides of the blade and on the top of the spine. Black horn handle set with brass stars and mounted with heavy brass D guard and cross guard. Leather scabbard with fabric cover and pierced leather locket and chape. Total length 22 inches. Very good condition.
