Fine Arab Shamshir Sword with Wootz Blade - 10988


This long and heavy Shamshir sword is Arab, early – mid 19 C. The blade is of Persian origin, forged from fine wootz (Damascus, watered) steel of dark color and high contrast. The 34 inches blade is finely fullered and signed with a maker mark in gold inlay (some losses to the gold). The handle is covered with silver with filigree work and the cross guard as well as the pommel cap are engraved silver. Leather covered scabbard with engraved silver mounts. Total length 40 inches. Very good condition. Very minor pitted spots and edge nicks on the blade.
