Very Fine Shashqa Saber from Central Asia - 10965

This very fine saber is coming from central Asia, Bukhara style, but with strong Ottoman influence, late 19 C. Fine single edge blde very slightly curved, 28 Inches long and forged from very fine pattern welded steel. The blade is decorated with gold inlay decoration and inscriptions in Arabic letters. Jade (or Jadeite) grips and gilded silver bolsters set with turquoise stones. Wood scabbard with finely chased brass locket and chape set with colored stones, turquoises and ribbed corals. Total length 36 inches. Very good condition. One of the bolsters has a later repair with the turquoise stone missing. The strong Ottoman decoration style of the scabbard suggest it might be later to the blade, made by a Turkish maker.
