Up for sale is this early, 18C. or earlier, very good “PIHA KAHETTA” the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). It has a single edged short heavy blade, 8 inches long with a down curving tip. The grips are beautifully carved from ivory with dark, shining age patina. Brass bolsters and pommel cover. Original wood scabbard with copper locket with filigree decoration. Total length is 15 ˝ inches. Good condition. Very fine darek age patina on the ivory grips. Blackened spots and minor patches of pitted areas on the blade.
