Turkish Style Arab Saber - 10842

This 19 C. saber is shaped in the style of a Turkish sword but it is most probably a local Arab made sword from Israel, Jordan or Syria. The blade is well forged and fullered, 32 inches long with 8 inches back edge. The blade is marked and inscribed on both faces, with what may be IANGANI. We are not sure about the meaning of this markings. Horn grip with bulbous pommel, brass grip strap and brass cross guard. A twisted brass wire binding is holding the cross guard in place. Total length 38 inches. Very good condition. Blade slightly bent and with few blackened spots and age cracks on the horn grips. This sword comes with its original wood scabbard , unfortunately badly damaged (Not shown)
