We offer for sale this 19 C. Large size Ottoman / Balkan, probably Albanian, Jambiya dagger, with 14 1/2 inches long, 2 ½ inches wide blade (Extremely large compared to 9-11 inches long in the more common specimen). The blade is finely forged from Sham steel (Low contrast wootz common to the ottoman empire blades). Long handle cut entirely from a single massive piece of walrus ivory with extended pommel and cross guard corners, attributed to Albania. Wood scabbard covered with the original green velvet and fitted with silver locket and chape. Total length 23 inches (in scabbard). Very good condition. The scabbard tip is restored. Very impressive item.
