An unusual long knife from Bosnia & Herzegovina, from the very short period of independence before the annexation to the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the end of the 19th C. The blade is straight, single edge, 14 inches long (compared to 7-9 inches long of the more common ones) and marked with a maker mark in the shape of a small saber. The grips are bone with flared pommel, set with brass nails and inserts in a typical Balkan style of decoration. The scabbard is wood covered with thin chased brass. Total length 19 inches.
