Very Fine Moroccan Koumaya Dagger - 10785

The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is a very fine example of good quality, early 20 C. with a very well forged, finely fullered blade, 9 1/2 inches long engraved with a boat mark at its upper part. The hilt is wood with fine silver mounts and the scabbard is heavy silver very finely chiseled. Total length 15 ½ inches. Very good plus condition. A very attractive piece.
