Massive and heavy Indian Sword with Basket Hilt - 10720
This massive sword is Indian, late 18 – early 19 C., probably Central India. The heavy blade is 28 inches long, almost 3 inches wide at it maximum width and with a 10 inches back edge. Basket hilt in the style known as “Khanda” Type hilt and with a 3 ½ inches pommel spike. Velvet covered grip and hand cushion (partially restored). Original wood scabbard covered with leather, finely tooled at its upper part and mounted with a brass chape. Total length 38 inches. Very good condition. Slightly damaged and partially opened scabbard at its back. |
