Very Rare War Shield of the Bagobo, Philippines - 10703
This rare wood shield is a late 19 – early 20 C. , war shield used by the Bagobo people of Mindanao, south Philippines. Rectangular in general shape with a central round boss on the front face and carrying handle on the back. Wood painted with black cines decoration and set with heir tufts around. Both faces are reinforced with bamboo strips bound to the shield with rattan strips. Original carrying belt. 36 X 18 inches. Very good condition to age. |
