Fine Moroccan Koumaya Dagger - 10679

The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is mid 20 C. 1950 or so, a fine exemplar of good quality, with a finely forged 9 1/2 inches blade etched at its upper part. The hilt is wood with fine silver mounts and the scabbard is whole silver. All silver parts are decorated with small gold (red gold) flowers hammered into the silver. Total length 16 ½ inches. Very good condition. A very attractive piece.
