Up for sale is this early, 18C. or earlier, good “PIHA KAHETTA” the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). Like the old classical examples it has a single edged short, heavy down curving blade, 9 inches long. The grips are beautifully carved from ivory with dark, shining age patina. Silver covered grip strap and grip mounts. Total length is 12 inches. Very good condition. Blackened spots and minor patches of pitted areas. Brass bolsters missing.
