Fine Sikin, Ache Sword from Sumatra - 10556

The Sikin is one of the many variations of the Klewang, the Indonesian machete like sword. This Fine one is Acheen from Sumatra, mid 19th C. The blade is straight and single edge, 20 ½ inches long with a 14 inches long fuller just below the spine. It is forged from finely pattern welded steel with clear pattern on the entire blade. The steel bolster is forged in a polygonal shape. The hilt is carved of horn in a typical forked pommel with beautiful floral carving. The scabbard is made of light color wood decorated with fine drawings on both sides. Total length 27 inches. Very good condition. An age crack in the grip. Minor chips and cracks in the scabbard with some opening in the seam. Old repair on the scabbard mouth. A fine complete sword. |
