This short sword from Somalia is a development of the Somali Billao dagger and was used mainly by the coastal people of Somalia. It has a long non-symmetrical leaf shape blade, 13 inches. The handle is made of sections of dark horn separated by section of light colored metal, probably Aluminum. The pommel is of a typical pronged shape. Very rare version. Hide scabbard. Very good condition few pitted spots on the blade. This is an early 20C. authentic and unusual item from East Africa, complete as originally made.
