Fine Big Dagger of the Manding, West Sahara, Africa - 10290
This fine dagger is probably late 19 C. , from the Manding people of the West Sahara. The double edge blade is 12 inches long, finely forged and decorated with engraved pattern. The handle is ivory with silver bands, silver collar and big ivory pommel with horn inserts. Leather scabbard with typical Manding braided leather strips. Total length 17 inches. Very good condition. Good patina on the Ivory parts. Minor damage to the scabbard mouth on one side. Very impressive dagger. |
