From our private collection we offer for sale this rare early Chinese ‘trousse’ (eating set), comprising a knife and chopsticks. Mid to late 19 C. With a massive blade 7 ½ inches long 7 mm thick, forged from two type of steel with different carbon content, intentionally forming a nice decorative pattern on the fuller. Bone grips and bone chopsticks. Scabbard is wood covered with Sting Ray skin and long brass mounts. Total length 12 ½ inches. Very good condition. The bone chopsticks are lightly curved due to age shrink. A rare item.
