Very Fine Unusual and Rare African Sword - 10250
Up for sale is this unusual, very fine and rare sword. Based on a blade of ashort sword of the Boa tribe ( also in use by their neighbors, the Angba and Bandia tribes) from North Zaire. The 14 inches long double edge leaf shape blade is finely forged and chiseled. The handle is silver with very fine filigree work, probably east African or Arabian in origin. Tooled leather scabbard with fine filigree silver mounts. Total length 20 inches. Very good condition. Scabbard tip lightly damaged. An interesting cultural mixture, early 20 C, of good quality and condition. A fine and rare find of African weaponry / art. |
