Coorg Pichangeti Knife / Dagger from India - 10244
The Pichangeti is one of the rarest knives of the Indian arsenal. It is associated with the Coorg people inhabiting the South Western shores of India. It has a short heavy single edge blade, 6 ½ inches long, brass bolsters and highly decorated silver handle and grips with gold plated buttons and pommel cap. The wood scabbard is also covered with silver mounts, partially gilded bands and the up-curving scabbard tip is of a very clear Arabic influence. The bolster and scabbard locket are marked PBS, probably owner name. This Pichangeti comes with its original silver belt . Total length 11 1/2 inches. Very good plus condition. |
